What is Glenn Grothman known for?
Glenn Grothman is a Republican member of the US House of Representatives from Wisconsin. In the 118th Congress he chaired the House Oversight Committee's Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs.
On July 26, 2023, his subcommittee held the hearing 'Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Implications on National Security, Public Safety, and Government Transparency'. It drew wide attention because one witness said he was a whistleblower with knowledge of a secret crash-retrieval program. The witnesses were former intelligence officer David Grusch, retired Navy commander David Fravor and former Navy pilot Ryan Graves.
In his opening remarks Grothman said that a lack of transparency about UAP over decades had eroded public trust and called for better government accountability. The official transcript is published as Serial No. 118-53. The hearing is a key public record of the claims; the Defense Department has said it found no verifiable evidence for the crash-retrieval allegations.
