The ZetaTalk founder who said aliens warned her a planet would sweep past Earth in 2003, the start of the Nibiru doomsday scare.

What is Nancy Lieder known for?

Nancy Lieder is a Wisconsin woman who in 1995 founded the website ZetaTalk. She says she receives messages from extraterrestrials from the Zeta Reticuli star system, who chose her to warn humanity.

On the site she predicted that a large planetary body, which she called Planet X and which followers linked to Zecharia Sitchin's Nibiru, would pass close to Earth in May 2003, stopping the planet's rotation and causing a catastrophic pole shift. When nothing happened, she said the date had been a deception meant to fool the establishment and declined to give a new one. The idea then merged with predictions about the end of the Maya calendar in 2012 and has resurfaced repeatedly since.

Astronomers and NASA have repeatedly said that no such planet exists. An object large enough to cause such effects would be among the brightest things in the night sky and would already be disturbing the orbits of the planets.

Why it is on Credible Theories

Her 1995 predictions turned Sitchin's Nibiru into a recurring doomsday claim.
