What is David Grusch known for?

David Grusch is a former US Air Force officer and intelligence official. He served as the National Reconnaissance Office's representative to the Defense Department's UAP Task Force and later worked at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency until 2023.

In 2022 he filed a whistleblower complaint, and in 2023 he made public claims that the US government has a long-running program to recover and reverse-engineer craft of non-human origin. At the House Oversight subcommittee hearing on July 26, 2023, he testified that he had been informed of a multi-decade crash retrieval and reverse-engineering program in the course of his official duties, based on interviews with dozens of people. He said he had given classified details to congressional intelligence committees and the Inspector General.

He said his central claims came from interviews rather than firsthand observation, and he offered no documents or physical evidence in open session. The Defense Department said it had found no verifiable information supporting them, and AARO's 2024 historical report attributed such claims largely to circular reporting.
